Back to Palo Verde (again) June 2, 2014
Posted by stinawp in Uncategorized.trackback
This is field season two of three (I hope!) for my dissertation. I’ll be in Costa Rica for 85 days, 83 of them at Palo Verde Biological Station. I plan to post pieces here once or twice a week, but last year’s experience shows that while I may think up all sorts of posts while hunting caterpillars, I may not have the mental wherewithal to type them up when I get back from the field.
This summer by the numbers:
changes of clothing: 4
days for a caterpillar to mature at Palo Verde: ~28
caterpillars I want to rear this summer: 300
mosquitoes waiting to drink my blood: ∞
